Dear First Grade Families,
This week is a full week. We will be at school everyday. Bullying in our class is getting much better. Continue to ask your child how school is each day. We color in on their calendar their behavior daily. If they get orange they had a rough day. If they don’t remember what they did feel free to email me, write a note, or call me at school.
Please help your child practice their words with daily spelling homework. Many students are still not doing their ABC Order and Practice Spelling Test. Students are failing their spelling test. A 0 or 1 is failing. They should be getting 7 or more words correct.
Daily reading is important. Sign the reading log after they read 20 minutes each day. They need to show the reading log to me daily. Keep up with completing math sheets also.
This week we are practicing letter sounds as well as working on comprehension as we listen to Curious George in SFA Reading. We are learning about compound words. In Science we are learning about sand and silt. In Social Studies we are learning about rights and responsibilities and completing our Service Project. We will clean up our school play yard by picking up trash. In Math we are learning about place value and writing numbers from 100-200.
